User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:36.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/36.0 SeaMonkey/2.33
Build ID: 20150223174142

Steps to reproduce:

- Seamonkey updated from 2.31 to 2.33b1 (german)
(remark: skipped SM 2.32, because no german lightning available)
- Lightning updated from 3.6b1 to 3.8b1

Actual results:

- Calenders empty.
- Time zone setting not translated.
- Time zone not selectable.

See attached picture.

Expected results:

Fully functional.
Can you check out whether en/us version of 3.8b1 works for you? This indicates that there seem to be morer boken with localized versions than already mentioned in bug 1133663.

Now, installed SeaMonkey 2.33b1 en/us. Result: same issue with Lightning.
I un-installed and re-installed Lightning: same issue (difference: english instead of german seamonkey)

I'm using Windows 7 with 32 bits.

Do you have any messages in the error log (ctrl+shift+j)?
Yes, see attachment. (The log was cleared before starting lightning).

Thank you for providing the error log, but unfurtunately the interisting parts of the messages are truncated.

Can you please add the complete log messages to the bug? At best, copy the messages using the copy option from the error console context menu.

Also, please add always all relevant information inline or as attachment (prefered text/plain) to the bug instead of referencing to an external storage location, so it still can be accessed later on even if you have cleaned up your storage area.

Hello MakeMyDay,

I attached en errorlog.

Yout're expiriencing bug 1081534. Unfortunately, this was'nt backported as intended, so it is fixed only in 3.9 and newer. You need to disable calendar.icaljs in the config editor to work around this.

Thank you. "disable calendar.icaljs" will help to start the calendar. But there are a lot of error messages like "Failed to read 'dayIntervalBetweenMonths.monthFormat' from chrome" in the error log. In addition, this error message will be prompted an the user screen too. I will post an attachment (picture).

I think, the most comfortable way will be to use SM 3.31 + Lightning 3.6b1.

Thank you very much for locating the problem.

As akapuma found out, setting calendar.icaljs does not make lightning 3.8b2 work in SM 2.33. So we have Bug 1081534 resolved for 3.9, but nothing working for SM2.33 (which requires 3.8b2 according to <https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Calendar/Calendar_Versions#Stable_Releases>) and this bug was closes as a duplicate. Is there any chance there will be a working release/work-around for Seamonkey 2.33, please?
What problem are you observing with SeaMonkey 2.33 and Lightning 3.8b2? The workaround for broken icaljs is simple: use the default libical library instead of the experimental icaljs library by reseting the preference to its default value.

The problems reported in comment 1 should be fixed with bug 1133663 in Lightning 3.8b2
The problems reported in Comment 9 can be ignored, see bug 1142936.
Hi Stefan,

Thanks for your reaction. Here are my details:

I observed it on Windows 7, corporate 64-bit desktop edition with English locales (corporate language), Seamonkey win32 version as suggested by the automatic down-loader. I have Google provider and Exchange provider installed (and set up). I also use two remote RW WebDAV calendars, a lot (15 or so) remote RO WebDAV calendars and do not use the local calendar.

The problems reported in comment 1 -- I'm observing the problems using en_US Seamonkey with English speaking Lightning (I expect the add-ons follow the Seamonkey language set-up).

Regarding the comment 9, the only possible localisation I can use is en_GB. I cannot check now as it happened on my work computer (my home Linux Seamonkey is still in version 2.32.1).

If I try to recall, when I toggle the property to its default value false (as suggested in the release notes), the calendar tab opens,I think with some error messages (I can retry for you at work, tomorrow working hours my time zone -- GMT+1), I can see the left part (calendar selector and a list of my calendars, although Exchange calendars are deselected. the view looks like a week one (I use multi-week exclusively), the task list on the right side is not shown, no events are shown, the arrows to move one week before after do not react, the tool-bars/buttons specific to Lightning calendar view are not shown, and the box to choose the message (not active, but shown in calendar tab in SM), is blinking (quickly changing from being and not being shown).

The error console, cleared while being in the mail tab, and then opening a calendar tab, showed nothing, if I remember correctly.

Please suggest steps I should do and record tomorrow at work to provide you all the data you need.

Thanks again for taking care of this.
Here are my observations with en_US SM 2.33 + Lightning 3.8b2 (the suggested version) + Provider for Google Calendar + MS Exchange calendar provider. Everything in English locales, Windows 7. The option calendar.icaljs's value is false:

1) When I start the SM browse only, nothing wrong happens.
2) Opening the MailNews window by clicking the icon with an envelope on the status bar I get two error windows with the title: ``An error has occurred'':

a)
An error was encountered preparing the calendar located at https://auto/82c95732-8ae7-46e2-a5d5-7152b55336af for use. It will not be available.

b)
An error was encountered preparing the calendar located at https://auto/0315db2e-a091-4397-8b5e-dfd8caa7107b for use. It will not be available.

Details:
Error code: 0x80570021
[Exception... "[JavaScript Error: "Components.classes[cid] is undefined" {file: "resource://calendar/modules/calUtils.jsm -> file:///C:/MyData/Profiles/Mz/xxx.vs/extensions/%7Be2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103%7D/calendar-js/calUtils.js" line: 17}]'[JavaScript Error: "Components.classes[cid] is undefined" {file: "resource://calendar/modules/calUtils.jsm -> file:///C:/MyData/Profiles/Mz/xxx.vs/extensions/%7Be2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103%7D/calendar-js/calUtils.js" line: 17}]' when calling method: [calICalendar::uri]"  nsresult: "0x80570021 (NS_ERROR_XPC_JAVASCRIPT_ERROR_WITH_DETAILS)"  location: "JS frame :: resource://calendar/modules/calUtils.jsm -> file:///C:/MyData/Profiles/Mz/xxx.vs/extensions/%7Be2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103%7D/calendar-js/calCalendarManager.js :: cmgr_createCalendar :: line 442"  data: yes]

Now I am opening (for the first time in this SM run) the calendar tab. It should be in the multi-week set-up:

3) The calendar tab only has an icon, no title shown.
4) After about 30 seconds the title calendar has appeared
5) All the tool-bars and calendar-specific menus are in grey, nothing can be chosen.
6) The list to choose what should be shown is in grey, although All is selected.
7) You can select a calendar from the calendar list, but you cannot show the property editor (nothing happens)
8) The today button is shown in black and can be selected, but nothing happens. The arrows around it are in grey.
9) The event area is empty, showing two or three columns, changing every about 20 seconds.
10) You can click on the day picker, but nothing happens.

I am trying to attach a screen-shot to give you some example (please see the attachment 8582522 [details].

Thanks.
